A Call To Fight

This is a guest post written by my incredible wife, Courtney Foster. You can connect with her on Twitter.

We concluded the “Man Up” series on Sunday.

There is a God-given need men have to compete, to fight, and to have adventure.

But God’s design, when it is not used for His purpose, can be destructive.

Job 39:19-25 illustrates a warhorse, ready for battle.

The warhorse embodies the spirit of God, its Maker.

God is a mighty warrior, and that’s the spirit He’s placed inside all men.

Chris said to the men, “There’s a war going on inside the warrior in you.”

When it comes to battle, do you fight or take flight?

Passiveness hides from God.

Men can hide behind what they get validated for. (Work, working out, etc.)

But passive sins of the father pass on to the sons.

My husband told the men to ask themselves this question, “What pain has my passiveness caused in my family?”

One of the greatest reasons men have affairs is because they are missing adventure in their life.

God is calling men to fight!

Nehemiah 4:14 says:

And I looked, and arose and said to the nobles, to the leaders, and to the rest of the people, “Do not be afraid of them. Remember the Lord, great and awesome, and fight for your brethren, your sons, your daughters, your wives, and your houses.”
